Biographical Sketch: At the time of this donation, Vanessa K. Eccles was a senior at ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé
Dothan Campus majoring in English and minoring in History. She graduated in December
2012. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta (English honor society) and Phi Alpha Theta
(History honor society). She is the founding executive editor of the Belle Rêve Literary
Journal, and resides in Georgetown, Georgia.
She acquired the map in either 2005 or 2006 at an estate sale in Dothan, Alabama.
From her understanding, a family member had passed, and the sale was to help clear
the house of any unwanted items. The map was sold to for under a dollar. Eccles interest
in old items persuaded her to buy it and donate the item to the Wiregrass Archives
in hopes that it will contribute to research of the Wiregrass area.
Scope / Content: Contains a general highway map of Houston Co., AL with churches by zones in the Columbia Baptist Association. The map shows the stamped signature of John H. Chafin, Sr., Director, Association Missions, who served from November 1960 until December 1980.
