Biographical Sketch: Ms. Miller is a member of the Brinks family who were some of the first settlers of Dothan. The Brinks owned a sawmill at Poplar Head Spring and one of the first cotton gins in town. Ms. Miller tells the story that there were three Brinks brothers who owned the gin. At the end of a day's work, one brother was cleaning the gin when he set it afire. Ms. Miller said, "He left for Texas immediately and was never heard from again."
Ms. Miller served as librarian for Wallace Community College. Her mother, Alice Brinks, graduated from Dothan High School as a member of its first class (of students who completed 7 years of school) in 1913.
