Parking

  • Parking is limited in the Trojan Arena Parking lot. Please see map below for additional parking available on campus.
  • ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé's shuttle service will be available for all graduates and their guests to and from the Chancellor's Reception and commencement.

Prior to Commencement 

  • The ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé Campus Graduation Center must be notified if you plan to attend the commencement ceremony.
  • All graduates other than those receiving military commission through ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé's Air Force ROTC Program or the Army OTC Program must dress in appropriate academic regalia to participate in commencement exercises.

Photography Information

We have a large team of customer care representatives ready to help graduates and family member with anything they may need.

Participation 

  • You will not be able to participate if you have not met all the requirements for graduation. 

Grad Fest

  • Grad Fest dates and times will provided via TROY email.  Any graduate unable to attend may call the Bookstore at 334-670-3223 or e-mail the Bookstore at sm096@bncollege.com to order caps and gowns. 
  • Personalized announcements, name cards, class rings and graduation frames may be ordered during  Grad Fest.
  • Personalized announcements need to be placed at this time ensure proper delivery. 

Honor Cords

  • Only authorized honor cords or medallions may be worn with the cap and gown at commencement. These are ordered through your honor society. 
  • There are no cords for graduating with University honors; this will be announced at commencement. 
  • NO social sorority or fraternity sashes may be worn.
  • Decorating the mortar board IS NOT ALLOWED.

Commencement Tickets

  • Tickets may be required to attend the ceremony. Details regarding tickets will be provided via TROY email. 

Day of Commencement

Chancellor's Reception

  • Guests and graduates are invited and encouraged to attend a reception at the Chancellor's home the morning of commencement.

Line-Up

  • All graduates should report to the Practice Basketball Court, Event Level of Trojan Arena.
  • PLEASE BE ON TIME to make sure you receive all instructions.
  • Line-up is for graduating students only. No children, spouses, ect. allowed. 

Personal Property

  • Graduates, please DO NOT bring any personal items (purses, cameras, cell phones, ect.) with you to the Trojan Arena.
  • University personnel WILL NOT be held responsible for your personal property so please make other arrangements for your valuables.

Dress Attire

  • Please dress appropriately. Women should wear dark, low-heeled shoes and men should wear dark dress shoes, dark socks, and dark dress pants. 

Photographs

  • Each graduate will be professionally photographed as he or she is awarded the diploma cover by Chancellor Hawkins. The photographer will provide additional information during the preliminary assembly.

  • Family and friends who are unable to attend the commencement ceremony may watch through ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé's live video coverage at http://troy.edu/live.

Summer

Please note that we do not hold a ceremony for summer graduation. If you graduate in the summer, you may participate in the fall ceremony. 

Commencement Information

Commencement ceremonies are held twice a year at the end of fall semester in December and the end of spring semester in May. Students who complete their degree requirements during summer semester are welcome to participate in the fall ceremony. 

Early in the semester, essential commencement information and Commencement Central dates are sent to the students TROY email who have filed for graduation. 

Commencement Central provides graduating students with a convenient one-stop access to all commencement essentials and incidentals. During this event, students may purchase caps and gowns, order invitations, announcements, and class rings, exit the TRIO program, obtain information about graduate school, career placement and services, and find out about the ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé-Dothan Alumni Association.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What if I cannot attend Commencement Central?
A: If you are unable to attend CC, you should contact the Records Office for additional information.

Q: I have many questions regarding commencement procedures, academic regalia and general information? Whom should I contact to resolve these questions?
A: A detailed information sheet covering all aspects of the commencement process will be issued during the CC. If your question is not answered here, contact the Records Office. 

Q: I am an honor graduate. Do I receive an honor cord to wear?
A: Only students who are members of a University-sponsored honor society will be issued cords to wear as a part of the academic regalia. Cords are issued by the honor society, not the University. For more questions regarding honor cords, contact the appropriate honor society faculty sponsor. There are no cords for University honors (cum laude, magna cum laude, summa cum laude). 

Q: Since there are no honor cords for University honors, how is this achievement acknowledged during the ceremony?
A: The commencement program lists University honors; this honor is also acknowledged when the student is presented on stage.

Summer 
Please note that we do not hold a ceremony for summer graduation.  If you graduate in summer, you may participate in the following fall ceremony or participate in the ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé campus summer ceremony.

Prior to Commencement

  • When submitting your graduation application, you must indicate Montgomery if you plan to participate in the Montgomery Commencement Ceremony.  If you omit this when submitting, you will need to send an email to graduationcenter@troy.edu to alert them of your intentions.
  • All graduates must dress in appropriate academic regalia to participate in commencement exercises.

  • Orders for cap and gowns may be made by contacting the bookstore, located on the first floor of Whitley Hall or at 334-241-9510.  Cap and gowns may also be purchased at .

  • Only authorized honor society cords, sashes and/or medallions may be worn with the cap and gown at commencement. These are ordered through the honor society.

  • No Social Sorority or Fraternity sashes will be permitted. If ordered, you may take pictures with them; however, you will be asked to remove them during line-up.

  • Decoration of mortar board (cap) is NOT allowed. You will be asked to remove it.

  • Tickets are required for anyone age three (3) and up.  The number of tickets distributed to each graduate is determined by the number of graduates participating and will be announced in an email prior to the ceremony.

Day of Commencement

  • All graduates must arrive by 6:00 p.m. and report to Whitley Hall, Room 140/141 for robing and line-up.  This area will not be secured during the ceremony, so we ask that you leave all personal affects in your car.

  • Photographers will be set-up in the lobby to take photographs of graduates. 

  • Students receiving graduate degrees should not arrive wearing regalia hoods. They will carry hoods and will be hooded on stage during the ceremony.

  • Guests are asked to arrive at the Davis Theatre prior to 6:45 as the doors will close at this time and no one will be allowed entry (even with a ticket).  Please let us know if you or your family members require special accommodations (the Davis Theatre has stairs).

  • Diplomas and covers will be mailed after all grades are finalized. Graduates receive empty diploma covers during the ceremony that we request be returned after the ceremony is over.

  • The Academic Records Office must be notified if you plan to attend the commencement ceremony. If you are a student from another campus and would like to participate in our commencement, please contact the Phenix City Records Office at 334-448-5109.
  • Cap and Gowns
    • All graduates, other than those receiving military commissions through ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé’s Air Force ROTC Program or the Army ROTC Program, must dress in appropriate academic regalia to participate in commencement exercises.
    • Orders for Caps and Gowns may be placed in person with the ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé Phenix City Bookstore during Grad Fest. Grad Fest dates and times will be provided via TROY email. Any graduate unable to attend the Grad Fest may call the Bookstore at 334-448-5138.
  • Honor Cords
    • Honor cords are only available to undergraduate candidates. Cords are available for purchase from the bookstore.
    • Only authorized honor society cords and/or medallions may be worn with the cap and gown at commencement. These are ordered through your Honor Society.
    • NO Social Sorority or Fraternity sashes may be worn over your gown.
    • Decoration of the Mortar Board, (cap), IS NOT allowed.
  • Tickets
    • Tickets are not issued nor required for Phenix City Commencement Exercises

Day of Commencement

  • You will not be able to participate if you have not met all the requirements for graduation.
  • All participants need to arrive 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony to check in.
  • Personal Property
    • The dressing room will not be secured during the ceremony. Please make other arrangements for your valuables, (purses, cameras, cell phones, etc.).
  • Hairpins / bobby pins may be needed to secure mortarboards.
  • Masters and Educational Specialist candidates are not wear your hood to the facilities. You will be hooded during the ceremony.
  • Please dress appropriately. Women should wear dark shoes and men should wear slacks and dark shoes.
  • All children must remain under the supervision of an adult at all times.
  • Family members are not allowed in the student lineup area.
