English as a Second Language (ESL)

Welcome to TROY

ESL Student Handbook

Welcome to English as a Second Language at ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé. We have an intensive English program with 6 levels, a selection of optional classes for those not in ESL, and short programs for special groups. Intensive English especially helps students who want to study for an academic degree at ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé. Intensive English has 8-week terms and starts in August, October, January, March, and May. The term beginning in May is our Summer Program, with many trips and activities included in the tuition cost. Students in ESL have regular ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé university student ID cards, which means you will have full access to all student facilities and events. You can also join our Conversation Partners program (no cost) and meet with a US student to practice English conversation and to learn more about US culture.

You can receive a personal reply to questions about ESL by emailing the ESL Director, Lance Noe, at lnoe@troy.edu. If you plan only to study ESL at ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé and not study for an academic degree, ask the Director for an ESL application.

Mission Statement

The mission of the English as a Second Language program is to provide high-quality instruction in English as a second language (ESL) and orientation to U.S. culture to international students, visitors, and residents who are non-native speakers of English. English as a Second Language focuses on preparing students for academic study at ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé and also offers language and cultural opportunities to groups and individuals outside of the academic framework.

We will be happy to welcome you to our beautiful campus.
