Kinesiology Courses Led by Highly Experienced Faculty

Your courses will prepare you to make a significant investment in the lives of your students and also prepare you for greater responsibilities and higher earnings within your profession. With this degree, you can help shape the future of your school as a K-12 administrator or set the groundwork for a doctoral degree that could take you into the world of higher education as a faculty member, sport coach or administrator.

Our highly skilled, research-oriented faculty is dedicated to your success and will help prepare you to follow your dreams in the field of coaching. As a student, you will benefit from this program’s comprehensive curriculum. You will be given the chance to learn in hands-on laboratory courses, research methods courses and through completing a capstone internship and/or research project. While pursuing your degree, you will have access to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, impressive research opportunities and practical field experiences.

Options and Opportunities

TROY's Kinesiology - Coaching program provides you with two track options. You can either choose to pursue the program’s master thesis, in which you’ll be tasked with completing an in-depth research-based project that will lead you toward a future Ph.D. program, or you’ll have the opportunity to complete an internship where you will work within the area of the career you want to pursue. No matter the track you choose, you can expect to graduate from the program with sharper and thoroughly developed analytical skills through the academic and in-field research you’ll be required to conduct. You will also strengthen your leadership, teaching and public speaking skills.

The Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion also offers competitive graduate assistantship (GA) slots for students enrolled in its coaching graduate program. GA opportunities include teaching, research and laboratory assistantships. Preference for graduate assistantships will be given to those who wish to further their education by pursuing a terminal degree (doctorate/professional) upon completion of the kinesiology master’s degree

J. Brandon Sluder, Ph.D.

J. Brandon Sluder, Ph.D.

Dr. J. Brandon Sluder serves at ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé as professor and department chair in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion. He received his Bachelor's degree in Sport Pedagogy at the University of South Carolina in 2001 and his M.S. (2003) and Ph.D. (2008) in Sport Pedagogy from Auburn University. He resides in ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé, Alabama and enjoys spending time with family in his spare time.
Tyler D. Martin, Ph.D., CSCS

Tyler D. Martin, Ph.D., CSCS

Dr. Tyler Martin earned a Ph.D. in Human Performance with an Exercise Physiology Emphasis from The University of Southern Mississippi (USM), a M.S. in Human Performance with an Exercise Science Emphasis from USM, and a B.S. in the field of Physical Education with an emphasis in Fitness Management from Mississippi State University.

As a graduate of ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé himself, Dr. Green used his athletic and academic experience to help design TROY’s Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science program and guide his students down the track to successfully find jobs in Exercise Science.
