Carol Jago

Carol Jago has taught English in middle and high school in public schools for 32 years and is associate director of the California Reading and Literature Project at UCLA. She served as president of the National Council of Teachers of English and as chair of the College Board鈥檚 English Academic Advisory Committee. She has published many books with Heinemann, including Cohesive Writing: Why Concept is Not Enough, The Book in Question: Why and How Reading is in Crisis. Carol has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the California Association of Teachers of English and was the recipient of the National Council of Teachers of English Squire Award, given to honor an individual who has had a transforming influence and has made a lasting intellectual contribution to the profession.

Dr. Jennifer Buehler

Dr. Jennifer Buehler is Associate Professor of Education at Saint Louis University. She is the former host of Text Messages, a young adult literature podcast sponsored by ReadWriteThink.org.; a Past President of the Assembly on Literature for Adolescents of the National Council of Teachers of English; and author of Teaching Reading with Young Adult Literature: Complex Texts, Complex Lives (NCTE, 2016). Jennifer taught high school for ten years before earning her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. She got the start presenting about YA lit when she was a teacher consultant with the Eastern Michigan Writing Project.

He is a Los Angeles Times Book Prize finalist, two-time winner of the North Carolina Young Adult Book Award, and recipient of New York鈥檚 Bankstreet College Claudia Lewis Award for Poetry.  Wolf鈥檚 YA novel in verse, The Watch that Ends the Night: Voices from the Titanic, was included on Booklist鈥檚 50 Best YA Books of All Time. Alan Wolf鈥檚 dynamic author talks and poetry presentations for all ages are inspiring, informative, and entertaining. Wolf believes in the healing powers of poetry recitation.
